RC3 Member Spotlight: U.S. Chamber of Commerce
Mom-and-pop shops and local chambers to leading industry associations and large corporations from all sectors and regions.
How and when was your partnership formed?
On April 22, 1912, in response to President Taft’s call for a “central organization in touch with associations and chambers of commerce throughout the country and able to keep
purely American interests in a closer touch with different phases of commercial affairs,” a group of 700 delegates from various commercial and trade organizations came together
to create a unified body of business interest that today is the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
What three words or phrases would you use to describe your partnership?
Representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses of all sizes, sectors, and regions.
What are the future goals for your partnership?
Following the release of the Cybersecurity Framework in February, the Chamber will explore partnership opportunities with NIST and DHS to educate small and mid-size businesses on the benefits of adopting the framework into businesses risk management processes.
How has your partnership advanced critical infrastructure protection in your community?
The Chamber facilitates Business-2-Business mentoring activities (e.g. conference calls, workshops, forums, summits, etc.) on developing
emergency response and business continuity plans.
What is one of the biggest challenges that you have as a public/private partnership?
The Chamber acts as a bridge builder – we help connect our member businesses to key government decision and policy makers. Challenges arise when business and government interests aren’t aligned.
Who is your representative to the RC3?
Ann Beauchesne, Vice President, National Security & Emergency Preparedness Department
